Realizing How Special You Really Are

This is my very first post and I want to get LifeTechGuide started by helping you to be the best that you can be. There is a way of thinking in America that almost certainly leads to failure and/or embarrassment. It is now an epidemic that has sunk into the depths of our society and is being perpetuated by television, schools, and even our parents. It is the idea that each and every person is special. It has grown way out of proportion and to correct this way of thinking and to become a successful member of society, you must learn to recognize the myths associated.

Myth #1 - Each and every person is unique

This is perhaps the root of the "you're special" myth. The fact of the matter that there are over 300 million people in our country. That means that even if you are a 1 in a million type of person there are still 300 people in America who are just like you. More than likely, you're a one in 100 type of person and probably passed yourself on the street three times today on the way to work.

Myth #2 - You have your own special talents

Most people are born with a complete and utter lack of talent. Most successful people are successful because they took the time to work at and hone their abilities. No one heard themselves sing in the shower and suddenly decide that they should be a star. They enjoyed their work and threw themselves into it and learned to do it well. In order to succeed in life you must first realize how badly you actually suck.

Myth #3 - You're entitled to something

Entitlement is the ultimate result of the previous two myths. When you believe that you are special you believe that you deserve something special. This is why shows like American Idol and America's Got Talent exist. People go on these shows trying to claim their prize for being unique and talented. They aren't either. Even the winners aren't good, they just suck less than everyone else.

Remember, in order to succeed in anything you must first realize that you suck at it, you have no natural ability, and that there are people out there who can do it better than you and go from there. I hope you learned something today.
